About Stockroot
What is Stockroot?
Stockroot is web-based inventory management software for trading and distribution businesses in Pakistan. It records stock in each godown, purchase and sales orders, deliveries, invoices and payments in one system, so stock levels and customer and supplier balances come from the same records.
Which businesses is Stockroot made for?
Businesses that buy from suppliers, keep stock in one or more godowns or warehouses, and sell to other businesses, often on credit. Typical examples are distributors, wholesalers and trading companies that deliver and receive orders in parts.
What is Stockroot not built for yet?
Stockroot does not currently offer point-of-sale counter billing, barcode scanning, batch, lot or expiry tracking, FBR-integrated digital invoicing, manufacturing with bills of materials, or an Urdu interface.
Does Stockroot replace my accounting software?
Stockroot keeps customer, supplier and bank ledgers and shows profit and loss from your sales, purchases and operating expenses. It is not a full double-entry accounting package with a balance sheet, so many businesses keep their accountant’s books alongside it.
Stock and godowns
Can Stockroot track stock across multiple godowns or warehouses?
Yes. Stock is held per warehouse. Each product shows quantity on hand, quantity reserved for confirmed sales orders, quantity available, and its value at weighted-average cost. Stock moves between warehouses with transfers that are sent and then received.
How does Stockroot keep stock figures accurate?
Stock only changes through a recorded document: a goods receipt, a delivery, a return, a transfer or an approved stock adjustment. Each one is saved as a stock movement, so every quantity can be traced back to what changed it.
Does Stockroot warn me when stock runs low?
Yes. You set a reorder level on each product. When the available quantity in a warehouse falls to or below that level, the product is flagged as low stock, and one action opens a draft purchase order for everything that needs reordering.
How do I correct stock after a physical count?
Record a stock adjustment: enter the quantity you counted and Stockroot works out the difference against the system figure. Each adjustment has a reason, such as physical count, damage, theft or expiry, and only changes stock once it is approved.
Can I import my existing product list?
Yes. You can import a product catalogue from an Excel or CSV file using a fixed template with category, product name, unit and pack size.
Purchasing and sales
Can I receive or deliver part of an order?
Yes. Each goods receipt or delivery records the quantity that actually moved, and the rest of the order stays open. A delivery raises an invoice for what was delivered, and a receipt creates the supplier bill for what was received.
Can Stockroot manage suppliers and purchase orders?
Yes. You create purchase orders for suppliers, confirm them (confirming needs a separate approval permission), receive goods into a chosen warehouse in one or more receipts, and record purchase returns. Supplier bills and payments update each supplier’s ledger.
Can Stockroot track sales, customers and what they owe?
Yes. Quotations can be converted into sales orders. Confirming a sales order reserves the stock, delivering it raises the invoice, and payments are matched to open invoices. Each customer has a ledger with debit, credit and balance, and receivables aging shows how long amounts have been outstanding.
Reports and documents
What reports does Stockroot have?
Reports include stock on hand, product performance, sales and purchase summaries, receivables and payables summaries, aging, cash position, party balances and payroll. The dashboard shows revenue, gross profit and cash, with a monthly profit and loss chart. Reports can be exported to CSV, Excel or PDF.
Can I print invoices on A4 or a thermal printer?
Yes. Documents can be printed on A4, A5, Letter, Legal or 80 mm thermal paper. Your company logo, NTN and bank details can appear on invoices and orders, and you choose what each document shows.
Does Stockroot handle sales tax?
Sales tax can be switched on per company and set per document line. Stockroot is not integrated with FBR digital invoicing.
Users and workspaces
Does Stockroot support multiple users and roles?
Yes. Each workspace has several users. Stockroot includes ready-made roles such as admin, sales manager, purchase manager, inventory manager, accountant, sales executive, store keeper and viewer, and you can create your own roles by choosing individual permissions.
How do company workspaces work?
Each company has its own workspace at its own web address, in the form yourcompany.stockroot.pk, with its own users, data, logo and colours. Your team signs in to your workspace address.
Is it available in Urdu?
The interface is in English today. Amounts are in Pakistani rupees (PKR).
